About Me
My name is Victoria Crowley, I have over 14 years experiance of riding, handling and caring for all types of horses and ponies. I started riding at the age of 9 and most certainly caught the bug. I continued to ride weekly and spent all my free time at the riding stables.
I have worked as a volunteer at many establishments including Wood Green Animal Shelter (large animal section), Northbrook Equestrian Centre and Morecambe Bay Home for Retired and Semi-Retired horses. I was also lucky enough to be employed by Fellowes Farm Equine Clinic to look after all the in-patients. I learnt a huge amount working closely with the veterinary nurses, and being given the oportunity to sit in on operations and procedures. As well medicating and caring for the sick/injured patients.
I have also been involved with challenging horses including helping a family bring on a nervous thoroughbred, which resulted in his sale. I have had many opportunities to ride many different horses in many different places, including introducing a freshly backed horse to jumping in Poland and riding through the Black Mountains in Wales.
At 13 I took on my own horse, Zahran, a crazy arab gelding who was in a bad condition. I turned him round, bringing him up to full fitness so we were able to take part in endurance races, and plenty of fun, charity rides. Some years later my novice parents loaned Teddy, an overweight stubborn cob type, whom I helped them school and bring up to full fitness so we could enjoy many hacks out together.
I have an Advanced National Certificate in Animal Care, and have dealt with many challenges that different horses bring. I have had experiance with stallion, foals, Clydesdales and Shetlands, laminitic horses, fussy eaters, nerves and high spirits.
